Morgalarai is very popular in many parts of the world. However, one owner died in the Indian state of Telangana.
He died after being stabbed in the leg by a rooster. The accident took place at Lathunur village in Telangana state earlier this week. News from the BBC.
According to the police, the owner was preparing the ‘killer’ rooster for the fight. But suddenly the rooster tries to escape. At this time the owner went to catch it.
But the owner inadvertently hit the cock with a 7 cm (3 inch) sharp knife tied to the leg. He later died on the way to the hospital. He died of excessive bleeding.
Those involved in the incident will be charged with murder, illegal betting and cowardice. Police are already searching for 15 people involved in the incident.
The rooster whose owner was stabbed to death has been kept on a farm. Earlier, it was taken to the police station. Police officer B Jevan said the rooster could be taken to court later as evidence.
Cockfighting was banned in India in the 1960s. However, it is still common in different parts of the country to organize morgalarai. Morgalarai is very popular in India, especially during the Sankranti festival.
However, this is not the first case of the owner being killed by a rooster. One owner died in Andhra Pradesh last year after being hit by a blade tied to a rooster’s leg.
