The visiting England cricket team cannot stand in front of the host Australia in the current Ashes series. After losing the first match in Brisbane by 9 wickets, they lost in Adelaide by a huge margin of 275 runs.
Australia batted first and scored 473 runs in the Adelaide Test which ended on Monday. In reply, England stopped at 236 in the first innings. The hosts declared the innings with 230 runs in their second innings. Later England were all out for 192 runs.
In other words, even after two innings, England could not touch the collection of 473 runs made in the first innings of Australia. However, England captain Joe Root thinks that Australia is not a better team than them.
“We have the ability to bat,” Root told a news conference after losing two matches in a row. As the scoreline shows, I don’t think Australia is a better team than we are in these conditions. ‘
He added: “We have everything we need to win the Test here (Australia). But if we miss one opportunity after another and can’t take control of the match in batting, then it is not possible to win the match. We must find a way to build a partnership. “
