Bashundhara Kings have returned to the Premier League after a stalemate in the group stage of the AFC Cup. In the first of their remaining three matches, Saif Sporting was blown away by Elita Kingsley and Robson de Silva Robinio, who had already secured the title.
The Kings won 3-0 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday. Kingsley, who became a Bangladeshi from Nigeria, scored a pair of goals. The other goal was scored by Brazilian forward Robinho.
Kingsley spread the light in Kings jersey and demanded to play in the SAF Football Championship for Bangladesh. The 31-year-old forward has been registered as a safe team player by Bangladesh. He will wear a red-green jersey if he gets clearance from FIFA and AFC.
Regular goalkeeper Anisur Rahman Zico, forward Raul Oscar Besra were left out and Kings coach Oscar Brusson made the XI. In the twelfth minute, the team forgot the goalkeeper Hamidur Rahman Rimon to digest the goal. Rimon wanted to grab Yassin Arafat’s long cross post from his own half, but couldn’t. However, Saif’s Maraj Hossain could not send the ball into the net even after getting an empty post.
In the 31st minute, Robinho’s long-range shot from just outside the box bounced off the post. After a while Maraj wasted another chance by hitting outside.
Kings scored three goals in the second half on a heavy and slippery ground due to rain. In the 53rd minute, Kingsley caught Robinho in the net with a left foot shot.
Kings doubled the lead in the 63rd minute. Jonathan Fernandez’s lob fails to get a defender out of danger when he gets to Kingsley. He beat the goalkeeper effortlessly.
Saif’s third goal in the net is responsible for their defense. No one was able to stop Fernandez’s landscape cross inside the box. Robinho got the ball in the gap and increased the gap with a perfect shot. Robinho tops the list of top scorers with 20 goals.
Kings 61 points in 22 matches. Bruce, who won the previous league title, has two more matches left.
