Virat Kohli is not coming after the T20 World Cup and will not be the T20 captain. The Indian team will not get coach Ravi Shastri after the World Cup. The BCCI has now come down to fill the gap left by him.
Cricketers like VVS Laxman and Anil Kumble are coming up as new coaches. This time another name was heard. The offer was made to former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene. However, he did not agree to the proposal, according to the Indian Express.
According to the report, the BCCI had offered to bring the 44-year-old former batsman as the team’s coach. And that happened before Anil Kumble was offered the coaching job. However, he returned the offer to Jayawardene. The reason, he said, is that he is interested in coaching the Sri Lankan team.
However, according to Indian media, he will not be able to coach any IPL team if he coaches India. This condition has also worked behind the return of Jayawardene’s offer. He is currently working as a coach for the Mumbai Indians. He will also be the coach of the team in the second round of the IPL, which will return to the field in the United Arab Emirates from tomorrow.
The BCCI has already started advertising for the vacant post. However, according to Indian media, after the departure of Ravi Shastri, it is more likely that VVS Laxman or Anil Kumble will be seen as the coach of the Indian cricket team.
