Google will pay publishers 1 billion over the next three years, according to Sundar Pichai, the company’s chief executive officer. This information was found in Engadget’s report.
Sundar Pichai said that a new product called ‘Google News Showcase’ will be unveiled with this new goal. The service will be launched initially in Germany.
It has already signed deals with various German newspapers, including Der Spiegel, Stern, Day Jet and Brazil’s Folha de S. Paolo, Bund and Infobi.
The service will be launched in other countries including Belgium, India, Netherlands. About 200 publishers from Argentina, Australia, Britain, Brazil, Canada and Germany have joined the service.
Publishers will be paid to create and publish high quality content to give readers a different kind of news experience.
